In the weekly balance of agricultural commercialization in Holguín presided over by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez - First Secretary of the Provincial Party - and other political and government leaders, several issues aimed at raising food supply, results and obstacles that impact on the current levels were analyzed this Sunday 31st.
Santiesteban Velázquez noted that greater demands and coordination between suppliers and controllers are needed so that the population can profit even more from the supply.
He added that the small livestock section is a pending issue, and that the much-needed commercial ethics must also be improved.
According to Yunior Torres, coordinator of programs and objectives in the Municipal Government of Holguín, the supply of pork meat has been below the expected amount, and fishing has not behaved satisfactorily either; objective causes are known, but only serious work will solve the low presence of the demanded meat, Santiesteban Velázquez assured.
He exemplified that many sales stands remain closed, whose owners show disagreement with the prices imposed by the producers, however, there are those who sell pork behind the curtain, thus violating the established prices.
For this reason, he instructed the members of the Inspection and Supervision Department not to be complacent, especially in the future when new decrees are to be issued - in this regard, starting January 31 local inspectors will be better prepared with a training course.
It was learned that this last week of January the supply of food and vegetables behaved at a good level, not so the supply of fruits that remained minimally below the plan.
The First Secretary of the Party in the province asked for reflection on the social order, especially the medical diets, so that the needy feel really supported in their food balance with satisfactory prices and in accordance with the situation of each one.
When discussing the subject further, he explained that it does not mean that the Food Collection Company has losses by lowering prices, but seeking to optimizing its budget, i.e., taking care of the wage, which implies greater expenditures, therefore, he insisted that they must expand the supply, and have the strictly necessary personnel in each job, among other aspects that redound to the business economy.
Likewise, it is necessary to adjust price and quality, not only for the size of the tomato, commented Osmany Viñals García, First Secretary of the Party in the municipality of Holguín.
In this regard, Juan Domínguez Pérez, the member of the Provincial Party Bureau in charge of the agri-food sector, remarked that the culture of handling from the field itself of the products to be marketed as first class must be improved.
The supply of free range eggs and quail eggs at Los Chinos market was also appreciated as good, even so, the attention was called on some irregularities on which action should be taken.
The supplies for the appreciated cadosas (broth) were also evaluated, and the reduction on the number of places from 72 to 42 to guarantee sustainability was also assessed, as well as the supply of dry wine and soft drinks and the relocation of the points of sale to reduce agglomerations.
In the weekly balance of the agricultural commercialization in Holguín, attended by representatives of the agricultural and cattle raising companies and suppliers, were also the mayor of the municipality of Holguín - Héctor Lázaro Suárez Sánchez, and Rigoberto Rivero Durán who attends the Agro-alimentary Programs for the Provincial Government.
