Improving sanitation and water supply to communities are among the priorities of the ongoing investments by the Provincial Delegation of Hydraulic Resources in Holguín, as part of the priorities of the sector to benefit people under vulnerable situation.
The main works include the construction of rural aqueducts, the automation of water treatment plants, the repair of networks and the extension of simplified sewage systems in the municipalities of Banes, Cueto, Cacocum, Antilla and the city of Holguín.
These investments will have a positive impact on communities, prioritized in the construction plans of local governments, such as those of Los Pinos, Los Negritos, Marcané, La Agraria, El Paraíso and Guajabales, located in those territories, told ACN Juan Mario Echavarría, subdelegate of the sector.
The investment also includes the restoration of roads in urban and rural areas, the reduction of supply cycles greater than seven days and the feasibility studies to extend the connections to the aqueduct and sewage systems, he added.
Echavarría referred to other prioritized plans such as the prospective development of tourism and the confrontation with COVID-19 have supply systems and service guarantees in hotels, hospitals and other hydraulic facilities adapted for use in the health sector.
The 2022 investment and maintenance plan amounts to more than 687 million pesos, which includes the water transfer works, the elimination of the water supply in tankers and other works in 45 communities distributed in the 14 municipalities of the province, third most populated after Havana and Santiago de Cuba.
