The workers of the Holguin Hydraulic Research and Projects Enterprise, known in the Cuban business world as Raudal, received this December 13 the diploma accrediting them as winners of the 2020 National Quality Award, granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, - a coveted recognition they now reach for the second time.
The award ceremony, held at the Raudal Holguín headquarters, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman Waugh; the First Secretary of the Party in the province, Ernesto Santiesteban; Governor of Holguín Julio Cesar Estupiñán; and Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources.
During the celebration, other awards were presented to the workers, such as the Holguin Territorial Environmental Award and the Provincial Science, Technology and Innovation Award; the National Award of the Republic of Cuba in its twentieth edition granted by the National Standardization Office; and the seal "Forjadores del Futuro" to the young persons Ulises Batista and Yurisander Peña Benítez, awarded by the Youth Technical Brigades.
Raudal has received these and other important awards such as the 2013 National Quality Award, and many recognitions for its management in research and solutions related to the exploitation of hydraulic resources in eastern Cuba.
It highlights the implementation of advanced technologies in the execution of its topographic studies and geological field and laboratory engineers.
Raudal's specialists created the first Cartographic Sheet for the preparation of the Hydrogeological Map of Cuba at a scale of 1: 100 000, which allows greater knowledge of the hydrology of the region and to orient future works for the search, conservation and exploitation of groundwater.
These contributions granted Raudal other awards for Science and Technology, for technological innovation, as well as provincial awards for quality, and all these achievements came in the midst of the Covid-19 onslaught.
Referring to this second occasion of receiving the National Quality Award, Raudal's general director said: ''With the joy of receiving this award we tell the President of the Republic, the Communist Party of Cuba, the Government, that we have counted, count and will continue to count forever, since we are the continuity of this great work that we will always defend and help to strengthen''.
Previously, Chapman Waugh and Rodríguez Rodríguez met with the entity's board of directors to discuss the Holguin strategy to face the drought.
In this regard, the President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources informed the press about the stable operation of the water transfers (Cauto-Güirabo and Nipe-Gibara), to guarantee water to the dams supplying the city of Holguín, which at certain times were not fully exploited due to the instability in electricity generation some moments ago.
Rodríguez Rodríguez highlighted the forthcoming completion of a floating intake at the Gibara dam, which will make it possible to exploit some 20 million more cubic meters of water.
He also explained that the water supply to the communities of Holguín is being reviewed by means of water tankers, whose number of people in need has decreased but which they intend to reduce successively, as investments in networks in this regard advance, and thus continue to reduce fuel expenses.
