The meeting of the Provincial Group of Experts that faces Covid-19 in the Cuban province of Holguin targeted the pandemic situation this Tuesday, under the direction of Deputy-governor Yunia Perez Hernandez.
At the beginning, Dr. Osmany Ricardo Puig, Second Degree specialist in Epidemiology, presented an information on the situation in the territory, where 1,501 cases have been confirmed in the last 15 days.
"There are municipalities with low use of SUMA technologies and antigen tests, which should work to achieve better results and more efficient surveillance. It is up to us to improve these indicators," the doctor pointed out.
As favorable news, the specialist highlighted the work of Moa (12.3 in the last weeks), one of the 10 municipalities in the country with a confirmation rate of less than 20 positives per 100 thousand inhabitants.
"To deepen in the foci of infection, on that depends the closure once and for all of this stage of the end of the disease," he added.
In general, Holguin shows with the vaccines and the contagions in a natural way a decrease of the cases, which does not mean to neglect the established measures. In fact, mathematical forecasts warn of an increase in the next few days between 100 and 150 confirmed cases daily. This is an element to highlight, since so far the models have a high level of accuracy.
In the last 6 weeks, Holguín has registered a gradual decrease in positive cases, although its statistics represent 15.2% of the cases in the country and 19% of the deaths.
To speak of a control of the disease, 200 cases per week and between 13 and 14 cases per day should be confirmed in the province, far from the 1400 cases per week and the figures per day.
"Each territory must deepen its actions to lower its cases, as well as not to neglect surveillance or decrease the population's perception of risk. We are at a crucial stage and we have the resources and qualified personnel to put an end to the disease," concluded the vice-governor.
