The Cuban Youth Club network, with more than three decades of existence, continues to be an institution that renews itself and, adjusted to the current times, extends its foundational lines of work to support the informatization process, due to its link with the Cuban family and its presence throughout the national territory, said Mayra Arevich Marín, Cuban Minister of Communications.
This assertion by the Cuban Minister of Communications highlights the sense of belonging of the more than five thousand workers of the institution, which has allowed them, as far as possible, to continue providing services in the communities in the midst of the current sanitary situation.
The main event for the 34th anniversary of the "Computer of the Family", that took place in Havana, was online attended by a representation of workers from the rest of the Cuban provinces.
At the event, Pablo Julio Plá Feria, general director of the Joven Club de Computación y Electrónica, remembered the figure of Fidel Castro and reminded how early he had foreseen the significance that informatics and computing would have in people's daily lives.
The work carried out by Joven Club in the last year and a half included the sustained growth of the infrastructure, the insertion in e-commerce with the inauguration of the virtual store in Pinar del Río, the development of online courses in educational robotics, the implementation of more than 1,330 blended courses on the Cursad platform and the extension of the info-literacy campaign.
This process, which began in Santiago de Cuba and is being extended to Havana neighborhoods, seeks to bring people, especially the elderly ones, closer to the new information and communication technologies.
With more than 600 centers spread throughout the national territory, Cuba's largest network of technological institutions intends to achieve a greater impact on the training and preparation of the people in the use of new technologies.
Also present at the meeting were Omar Pérez Salomón, official of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba; Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, Vice Minister of Communications, and directors of entities attached to the Ministry of Communications.
