As every day, the Provincial Defense Council in Holguin, led by its president Ernesto Santiesteban Velazquez, meets to evaluate the epidemiological situation, especially with regard to COVID-19.
Even though the resurgence of the disease in the province is not high, the percentage of cases without specifying the source of infection is worrying, the number of symptomatic cases is higher and a very few contacts are still detected for each positive case surveyed.
Precisely on this issue, among the actions to be taken in the coming hours will be to repeat the epidemiological survey to positive people, the study of people in risk groups, the requirement in compliance with the measures adopted and the readjustment of some of them and the incorporation of others.
Regarding this, Santiesteban Velázquez pointed out that we must raise the perception of risk in all ways.
"Contradictorily, the greater the number of people who have died from this disease, the lesser is the perception of the getting sick. For this reason, we must make more efforts from the mass and social organizations, the Mass Media and thru megaphone advertising by the Health Department so that people know and comply with the measures adopted to avoid contagion", said the leader.
Santiesteban Velázquez, accompanied by the vice-president of this body, Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, evaluated the opinions and criteria of the population received through various means of communication and indicated to the competent bodies the solutions to the problems raised.
They also evaluated the deficiencies detected by the deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power in controls carried out in recent days to centers in several municipalities of Holguin, and oriented the immediate solution and the re-control in the coming days to each of them.
At the end of this report, the authorities of the head municipality reported on the situation of the territory and its complexity due to the diversity in the location and few contacts by cases.
