At the conference held this February 15 at the Provincial Government headquarters, the press learned about the behavior of covid-19 in Holguin and the actions of mass organizations in support of the fight against the resurgence of the current pandemic.
Dr. in Medicine Alcides Lazo informed that this Sunday there were 19 clinical discharges of cured patients of Sarf-cov 2.
The physician updated data on new cases, contacts and suspects in isolation centers and how to proceed with them, both in a hospital facility and at home.
The head of the Department of the Provincial Health Directorate explained that there are a medical discharge and a clinical discharge, which explains that any patient who has been cured of covid-19 must continue home isolation for ten more days.
Holguín continues to be the most complicated municipality in the province, said Dr. Lazo, who added that protocols are followed with international travelers, as well as Cubans arriving from abroad for different reasons.
He also said that the Holguin Molecular Biology Center was designed to process 1,000 samples daily, and that when the situation became more complicated with the outbreak, it was extended to 1,900, but that on one occasion it reached 1,900.
He stated that more than 1,200 samples are pending, but that Holguín has the technical conditions for their conservation until they are processed.
It is necessary to explain that this laboratory analyzes samples from the provinces of Holguin, Las Tunas and Granma, although the first one takes the largest figure.
Representatives of three mass organizations attended the press conference to explain how much they contribute to the fight against coivid-19.
Roselia Taño Ricardo, head of the Federation of Cuban Women in the province, highlighted the work of the women together with the health personnel in the community as health brigadists, the attention to pregnant women and vulnerable groups, for example, to run the errands in the store or the medesins in the pharmacies, the making of masks, among other tasks of the organization or in support of the community.
For his part, Amaury Velázquez, President of Anap, explained that the organization that brings together Cuban peasants also contributes to the Terea Ordenamiento, to health services for rural people and specially the vulnerable ones, monitoring alien visitors, and of course food production.
Finally, the member of the Provincial Bureau of the CTC detailed that the organization of Cuban workers in Holguin prioritizes the measures to avoid the propagation of coid-19 and arbovirosis.
And that they continue with the activities inherent to the organization at the same time that they have enabled a system for the denunciation of price violations and indisciplines that attempt against the citizen tranquility.
