The general director of Empresa Pesquera de Holguin, Julio Mejias, explained to the visitors the unit's inner workings, both economically and in its production organization, reports Eduardo Aballe Osorio, journalist of Radio Angulo.
In this respect, the general director of the entity emphasized that the production of fry and catches were at 96 and 80 percent of the planned level, respectively, at the end of September.
The causes that most influenced the delays are the technical problems that occurred in the Nipe and Sabanilla farms, as well as the poor performance of the tench and cibí fish, said Mejías.
Also the impact of Covid-19 on some fishermen, the lack of feed for the intensive breeding of claria, the low levels of fuel for the boats, as well as the deficit of fishing gear.
Given this panorama, Santiesteban Velázquez emphasized the importance of implementing the 43 measures adopted to dynamize the business system in the country in the different fronts of the Holguín Fishing Enterprise.
"We have to take the 43 approved measures and review them one by one and see what is being implemented and what is not, or if obstacles still continue to appear in some cases," referred the First Secretary.
"These measures are also aimed at achieving better production results, but they are comprehensive because there are some that are aimed at better serving the workers, they have to do with the issue of housing for the workers themselves and the cadres," said Santiesteban Velázquez.
The highest political and government authorities in the province exchanged with the workers directly involved in production, taking an interest in their needs, working conditions and salaries, the latter affected by the low production of the entity.
Finally, it was learned that in order to lessen the wheat flour deficit, variants were introduced, such as corn and rice flour-based formulations for the production of croquettes and fish mince, as well as soybean paste for sausages.
