This September 27, the situation of the agricultural and livestock system of Holguin province was discussed in videoconference, under the presidency of Rigoberto Rivero Duran, coordinator for the food programs of the Provincial Government, and the presence of Juan Dominguez Perez - in charge of the branch for the Provincial Party Comittee, and the delegate of Agriculture, Vladimir Ricardo Estrada.
In a first moment the agreements of the previous session were checked, where the selection of producers from the municipalities of Holguín, Gibara and Báguanos as future beneficiaries of the state financing for the increase of the food production, especially the animal protein, stood out.
In this regard, Rivero Durán remarked the need for joint and expeditious work between Agriculture and the Bank of these municipalities so that they can lead this necessary process.
It was learned of the advances in some municipalities and setbacks in others, as regards the cold sowing campaign, the delivery of milk and meat to the industry, the construction of rustic houses, among other aspects.
It is worth mentioning the non-completion of the list of cattle owners but without land for these purposes, as well as with the rural cadastre, for example, by the Banes Citrus unit, and the Calixto Garcia Cattle Ranch unit.
It was also learned that only the municipalities of Antilla, Holguin and Moa are the only ones that visited producers with more than ten cattle.
In view of the persistent drought, cassava and plantain are planted in rainfed areas, and the other crops are prioritized in irrigated areas.
In the analysis of the situation of each municipality, it was known of poor work in several aspects, for example, not all compile the figures of monthly per capita pounds in the Computerized System of Agricultural Production (SIPA), which aims to know how much is marketed by all forms of marketing in each territory.
And one of the poorest performers is the municipality of Holguin, so they were required not to repeat the failure of the previous month, where, in addition, they failed to supply the markets of the outlying communities.
Within this municipality there are other problems such as in the productive pole of La Yuraguana where there are 235 hectares without sowing.
During the analysis of the indications, it was found that there are still doubts regarding the release of prices as a way to stimulate producers.
This is also the case with the construction of rustic houses for cultivation, with a deadline for September 30.
In this regard, it was said that those who fail to comply will have to answer to the higher authorities.
They insisted on the timely delivery of milk and meat to the industry, where Báguanos owes 80.5 tons.
Although to a lesser extent, the same happens to the municipalities of Mayarí, Sagua de Tánamo and Moa.
This videoconference highlighted the well-argued presentations made by the mayor of Cueto and the mayor of Calixto García, at the meeting to analyze the agricultural and livestock results of the province with the Vice President of the Republic Salvador Valdés Mesa.
