According to Dr. Yanelis Calviño Vega, head of the Provincial Health Department, 253 samples were studied, with 247 negative and 6 inhibited samples - samples whose result was not clear so microbiological study or PCR will be repeated). Today, 40 samples were sent to the laboratory in Santiago de Cuba, including patients for clinical and epidemiological discharge, patients of acute respiratory infections in severe condition, as well as suspicious persons and their contacts.
With one more day without positive cases, the total number of infected patients remains at 92, 88 discharged and four dead ones. At the time of this writing, only one active positive case was in hospital - an 89-year-old patient from Las Tunas province who continues recovering at the Fermín Valdés Military Hospital, and also seven suspected patients (6 in the Military Hospital and one in El Cocal villa).
Dr. Calviño also informed that yesterday 357,187 people were investigated in the province, with 99 patients with respiratory infections; however, none was diagnosed as suspicious to COVID-19. Likewise, she explained that the virtual self-survey platform processed 111 self-diagnoses, of which eight declared symptoms, although they were not classified as suspects.
Regarding the situation of Arbovirosis, Dr. Calviño commented that "the country is getting ready for an intensive stage starting June to try to lower the infestation rates in the July-August period, and thus avoid outbreaks".
Today, Banes is the municipality with the highest number of confirmed daily cases, while Holguín and Urbanos report the highest rates of vectors found with 1.66 and 1.22 for every 100 homes inspected (0.91 at the provincial level).
