The first video conference of August to analyze the results of the agricultural and livestock sector of last July, and challenges of this August in Holguin province, was held out under the leadership of the coordinator for the Provincial Government, Rigoberto Rivero Duran, and the presence of the member of the Provincial Party Bureau, Juan Dominguez Perez.
The situation of crop sowing is discussed, especially the prioritized crops, the completion of livestock modules and the purchase of prebreeding animals for them, the delivery of meat and milk to the industry, the behavior of the pounds per carpita for the population, shipments to markets, among other topics of interest were debated.
Emphasis was placed on the need to conclude planting wherever possible, as well as the preparation of the land for the arrival of the rains.
In this regard, it is recalled that fuel has been delivered, but that the use of animal traction should be increased.
It is recalled that the two most important tasks at the moment are the combat of Covid-19 and food production.
There are priority crops such as plantain -especially the Cemsa one-, yucca and sweet potato, among others, which do not receive the best attention by some producers, to whom an answer will be demanded in the next visits by Rivero Durán and Domínguez Pérez.
It is of concern that there are eight municipalities that are below the provincial average in the sowing plan, as well as in the deliveries to the markets and the contracting of what is produced, among them Holguín, where some communities did not receive the established shipments.
Attention was drawn to the important shipment to industries of meat and milk by producers, where the desired 100% is still not reached yet.
The construction of rustic crop houses and vegetable gardens was also analyzed.
Relevance is given to the behavior of the delivery of banana, vegetables, fruits and root vegetables to the markets of each territory, as well as to the municipalities of Holguin, Moa and Antilla.
