The supply of agricultural products and industrially processed foods, prices and business finance were at the center of the debate of the weekly balance of commercialization in Holguin, presided over by the First Secretary of the Party Ernesto Santiesteban Velazquez, Governor Julio Cesar Estupiñan Rodriguez, and other high political and government leaders in the province and the head municipality.
The business representatives expressed that their entities already reflect losses due to some subsidized prices for medical diets, to cite just one example.
Santiesteban Velázquez reasoned that the concern was understandable, but what could not happen is that this vulnerable group would be affected by the lack of food supply at subsidized prices, because the essence of socialism in the human being; he added that the Cuban State would take into account this situation and would assume the expenses.
It was learned that the major affectation lies in the new purchase prices to then commercialize them below those levels, therefore the economic disadvantage with the sweet potato and the three types of plantain (vianda, burro and banana), not so with the papaya and squash, products with good presence at these times and at advantageous prices.
And if we are looking for economic efficiency, the Governor reiterated the need to increase the number of jobs directly linked to production, including studying the labor force of each entity to reduce as much as possible the indirect ones, which would lead to clean up the finances.
In this meeting, it was learned of the good performance in the supply to the Holguin market this week, with Wednesday as the best day.
It is encouraging to know that seven placitas (small markets) reopened their doors this week, for a partial total of 52, a figure that should increase, and that for this purpose Acopio - as the state marketing company par excellence - together with the cooperative farms and other production units will be in charge of the stable supply.
It was reported that the pounds per capita per person behave about 12, but the consensus is that the figure is higher, only that the statistics are not collecting all that is being marketed by all entities.
The Small Livestock (Egame unit) is out of compliance this week, and the commercialization of pork meat continues below what is needed because only the State has been commercializing the desired supply; also, it was known that Holguin, Santiago de Cuba and Villa Clara are the only provinces where this meat is sold at this time.
Regarding the production potentialities of units such as the productive poles, it was explained that La Yuraguana has had technical difficulties with the irrigation machines -already in solution-, as well as with the construction of new curtains in aquiferous reserves for these purposes, but that in seven days the concrete will have set and with it the entry into exploitation of the same.
Likewise, its representative explained that the objective and subjective problems with the producers of cow milk are being analyzed, due to the situation discussed in the videoconference held this Saturday on the non-fulfillment of deliveries to the local Dairy Industry (https://www.holguin.gob.cu/en/actuality/noticias-2/8163-holguin-discusses-agro-livestock-results-spring-planting-campaign-in-focus).
Osmany Viñals García - First Secretary of the Party in the municipality of Holguín - called attention to the industrially processed foods; it was explained that croquettes of various types will be available next week and at prices slightly lower than the current ones.
And speaking of prices, Santiesteban Velásquez emphasized that the companies are in charge of seting them, but that it would be a mistake not to consult with the Party and the Government before taking them to the markets.
For this reason, the also President of the Provincial Defense Council requested to proceed with the sale of any product in stock and at a price lower than 300 pesos, since those above that figure should be reevaluated.
He even advised to study local offers so as not to resort to distant entities such as Ceballos in the central province of Ciego de Avila, whose prices could be higher, and which would be more expensive due to the transportation involved, and to resort to them only when they do not exist in any of the places located in this northeastern territory.
Also present at this week's balance were Juan Domínguez Pérez - member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party in charge of agriculture prodcution; Héctor Lázaro Suárez Sánchez - Mayor of the municipality of Holguín; and Rigoberto Rivero Durán, who is in charge of the Agro-alimentary Programs for the Provincial Government.
